Tips and Tricks

Welcome to our Tips and Tricks section of the newsletter. Each month we will feature information on something we hope will be found useful!

Paying too much for your Inkjet cartridges for your personal inkjet printer? Here are a few tips to save you money:

  1. Get a laser printer! While you’ll also have to refill the toner in laser printers, you'll get a lot more printed pages than you would with an inkjet.  Laser printers also print much faster than ink jet. In some cases, especially if you only print black and white, it's cheaper to buy a new laser printer than it would be to replace 4 ink jet cartridges.
  2. Print in draft mode. If you don’t want to buy a laser printer, at least print in draft mode with your inkjet when you’re printing documents. It uses much less ink than the normal printer setting and it prints faster.  In most cases, you won't be able to tell the difference between a text document printed in draft mode and one printed in the normal mode.
  3. Refill your cartridges. Instead of buying new cartridges, save some money by getting them refilled. There are several businesses offering cartridge refilling services, some who even come to you and refill your cartridges for you.  You can save up to 70% on the cost of ink by refilling. Not only are you saving money, but by not throwing out your old plastic cartridges, you’re helping the environment out as well!
