Tips and Tricks

outlook_2007_logoWelcome to our Tips and Tricks section of the newsletter. In each newsletter we will feature information on something we hope will be found useful! This month we feature a tip on one of our most popular email applications, Microsoft Outlook.

By default, Outlook highlights unread messages in your Inbox with a bold font. You can change this to use a color, a bigger font, or even a completely different font.

Change the Way Unread Messages are Highlighted in Outlook

To change the way unread mail is highlighted in Outlook:

  • Click to select your Inbox folder. Select 'View' | 'Current View' | 'Customize Current View' from the top menu while you are in your Outlook Inbox.
  • In Outlook 2003, choose 'View' | 'Arrange By' | 'Current View' | 'Customize Current View'.
  • In Outlook 2007, choose 'View' | 'Current View' | 'Customize Current View'.
  • Click on 'Automatic Formatting'.
  • Select 'Unread Messages'. Note: There are other formatting defaults here you can change also!
  • Click on 'Font'.
  • Specify your desired settings.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again to return to Microsoft Outlook.
